Eligibility

Start Dates

German institutions offer two main intakes a year- Winter & Summer.

German universities have only two intakes in the year: Summer intake for the summer semester running from March to August or April to September; deadlines usually fall before January.Students are encouraged to start their application process earliest possible.

Working in Germany

International students are allowed to work part time while they study in Germany.

You can work up to 20 hours per week while studying. If you exceed this, you’ll be required to pay into the German social security system, and there could be a negative impact on your studies. Non-EU/EEA students are also able to work in Germany alongside their studies, for 120 full days or 240 half days per year.

Language Requirements

An English test such as IELTS/TOEFL may be required. This depends on your course of study and/or your institution.

The minimum German level required for universities= is B2 level (A1 lowest level and C2 is the highest level)To study in German international students have to prove their language proficiency at an upper intermediate to advanced level (B2/C1)

While most programs are taught in German, there are opportunities to study in Germany in English, with a growing selection of English-language programs designed for international students.

There are a range of accommodation options available to students including on campus and off campus which includes home stay or private apartment options.

Living expenses which include accommodation, food, transport, books, entertainment etc the approximate average monthly living expense for a student in Germany is 867 euros (864 USD*). Thus, the annual living expenses can be calculated as 10,368 euros per year or 10,334 USD per year.
